OBM Drilling Cuttings Treatment
KTC, in strategic partnership with ESPS – Environmental Solutions for Petroleum Services, executes the OBM Drilling Cuttings Treatment Project with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) under a structured six-year operational framework. The project is based on advanced thermal desorption technology, designed to efficiently separate hydrocarbons from oil-based mud (OBM) cuttings through controlled high-temperature processing, enabling maximum hydrocarbon recovery and environmentally compliant solids disposal in line with KOC specifications and applicable environmental regulations.
From a technical and operational perspective, KTC implements fully integrated thermal desorption units equipped with automated feed control, real-time temperature monitoring, and optimized residence time management to ensure consistent treatment efficiency and stable plant performance under varying field conditions. Quality assurance and quality control systems are embedded across the entire process chain, including feed characterization, treated solids verification, and continuous performance validation to guarantee compliance and operational reliability.
In parallel, HSE remains a core execution pillar, supported by strict permit-to-work systems, heat and emissions control safeguards, and proactive risk management procedures to ensure safe operations, zero-harm objectives, and full alignment with KOC’s stringent environmental and safety standards.
KTC shall execute the 2026 cementing contract with KOC through its technical partner, Moraik Development & Oilfield Services, delivering a fully integrated solution across design, engineering, operations, quality, and HSE. The scope encompasses advanced slurry system design tailored to wellbore conditions, including optimization of rheology, thickening time, fluid loss control, and compressive strength development, supported by laboratory testing and simulation to ensure effective zonal isolation.
Operationally, KTC deploys fit-for-purpose equipment, experienced field crews, and detailed job execution programs, including pre-job risk assessments, real-time monitoring, and post-job evaluation to ensure efficiency and reliability.
Stringent quality assurance and control protocols are applied at all stages in full compliance with KOC requirements and international industry standards. The project execution takes place under a rigorous HSE management system, emphasizing hazard identification, risk mitigation, personnel safety, and environmental protection to ensure safe and high-performance cementing operations.
